How do visits work in North Carolina state prisons?

Visits are in person or by video. In-person visits are by appointment only: call or email the prison where the person is housed, and call the day before to confirm. Video visits use the Getting Out Visits app, or a home computer with a webcam and microphone, and are limited to people on the offender's approved visitors list. Before any visit, the offender must mail you a blank visitor application, you must complete and return it to the prison, and facility staff must approve it. Each offender may have up to 18 approved visitors. Under normal circumstances, an offender gets no more than one visiting session per week, up to two hours, with no more than three visitors per session. Cell phones are contraband and prohibited in all prison facilities.
