Federal Correctional Complex Terre Haute is a multi-institution federal prison campus located in Vigo County in west-central Indiana, roughly 75 miles west of Indianapolis. The complex includes FCI Terre Haute (medium security), a minimum-security satellite camp, and the United States Penitentiary Terre Haute (USP), which is a high-security federal penitentiary. The USP component has held the federal death row for male inmates and has been the site of federal executions. Because the complex houses multiple security levels, families need to confirm which specific institution their loved one is assigned to, as rules and communication schedules can differ between USP Terre Haute and the medium-security FCI.
